Father Drunk Driving and Daughter get Killed

Wales.co.uk Sep. 17, 2007 News: Darryl Shaw, 42, of Borth, Aberystwyth, west Wales, was jailed on 17th Sep. 2007 for two years for causing death of his 10 years old daughter Georgina in a drink-drive tragedy.

Michelle Elmore, 30, his partner and the girl’s mother equally drunk also sentenced to 12 monts prison suspendend for 18 months during which she will be under supervision

Tragedy struck when a drunken Shaw sped off home in his Peugeot 405 last November with Elmore by his side and Georgina in the back, Swansea Crown Court heard today.

Within minutes the car careered off the B4353 at Borth, hitting two parked cars and demolishing a telegraph pole and a lamppost.

Shaw sustained a minor back injury, Elmore was unharmed, but Georgina received serious head injuries, which later proved fatal.

The couple had moved from Warwickshire in February 2006 to start a new life in west Wales. The couple had run a cafe together in Borth which had proved unsuccessful.

Elaine Nixon, for Elmore described her as “crying a lot and thinking about her daughter. She is in a very low mood and she cannot face the world.

“A result of the stress of losing her own daughter is that she rarely leaves home. That is in the day.

“At night she dreams about it. She blames herself for what happened that night and she will have to deal with that for the rest of her life.”

Passing sentence judge Morton said: “You both will have to live with what you have done for the rest of your lives.”

It is the Authorities who are Responsible

Every time when I read about the drunken driving tragic accident especially when people maimed, killed makes me extremely hurt --- due to my knowing about its hidden facts that I mention below.

Most of these fatalities involves the drunk driver having more than twice or thrice BAC level over the safe limit for driving.

It mainly happens because of the drinks having the high alcohol content which the authorities call as the Standard Alcohol Drinks (SADs) and license it for the public consumption.

It potentially cause all these excessive alcohol consumption, intoxication or the drunkenness, which lead into various alcohol(ism) problems!

Many people after getting drunk drive in a need to reach destination and tragically fall into its fatal accidents which fatally maims kills people.

It is the alcohol authorities who license these extremely dangerous high alcohols content drinks (SADs) for the people’s consumption are primarily responsible for the drunk driving especially for its tragic accidents, fatal maiming and the killings.
