Why Unnecessarily Take Drunk Drivers Risk?
Most Drinkers Once Drunk Drivers
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey statistics http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/factsheets/drving.htm points out: “In 2005, nearly 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics (Department of Justice 2005). That’s less than one percent of the 159 million self-reported episodes of alcohol–impaired driving among U.S. adults each year (Quinlan et al. 2005).”
If one compares the above figures to the US population, it generally leads to the conclusion that most of the adult drinkers probably had been driving drunks once or fewer times in their life! But fortunately they never have been caught!
However one cannot deny the possibility that if they would had caught, then they would had become among one of those unfortunates who had been labeled as a drunk driver for life, although they did it only once or twice!
However among those 159 million of these self confessed drunk drivers a most certain fact can be thay all of them been drinking the extremely dangerous high alcohol content beverages spirits, wines, beers named as Standard Alcohol Drinks (SADs, that includes the standard “beer” having around 5% alcohol), which potentially caters to excessive alcohol consumption and makes them quickly intoxicated or drunk. On the other hand there probably not even a single person in there who had been drunk driving over there having consumed the Low (around 2% or less) Alcohol Drinks (LADs).—I make this above contention on the basis of the alcohol epidemiological survey. Ironically however the authorities do not make these facts known to the public.
The fundamental difference between the above mentioned high alcohol content drinks SADs and the LADs is that the former potentially enables its drinkers to excessive alcohol consumption that causes various alcohol(ism) problem most importantly the drunk driving. On the other hand the LADs safely enables people to carry on the moderate alcohol consumption but at the same time making it considerably difficult to more and more, excessive alcohol consumption. Therefore the LADs are ideally suited for the Majority of the drinkers who’s mainly wants moderate alcohol consumption within a given limit but at the same time like to derive the maximum pleasures out the drinking.
Now the question is, why should any one take such a foolish risk of consuming the high alcohol content SADs for their moderate safe alcohol consumption for which they really don’t require it! While the LADs can achieve it most proficiently?
To which some may counter saying; people in general do not face any such alcohol problems as the result of their SADs consumption (which may not be true). They are able to control their drink and seldom get drunk and in that case they never will get into the drunk driving. This scare mongering about the SADs absolutely makes no sense for them.--- OK I say,-- but what about the others consuming the SADs getting drunk and drive to which they or the people close to them or even those whom they don’t know falling victims? Why should they or any one take this unnecessary risk of allowing this potentially dangerous SADs consumption to anyone and become the victims of drunk driving?
