24 Year Old Gets 30 Years Prison In Tragic DUI Accident

The Ledger.com news repots Published September 27, 2007.

BARTOW - Despite pleas for mercy from family and friends, Polk County Circuit Judge J. Dale Durrance sentenced 24-year-old Daniel Norris of Frostprooof to 30 years in prison for a Nov. 6, 2004 fatal accident which took the lives of two of his friends, Tearful family members and a roomful of supporters, including retired Polk County Emergency Medical Services director Raymond Chatlos and Frostproof interim city manager T. R. Croley, spoke on Norris' behalf.

Norris was found guilty of two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of DUI manslaughter, although during his trial, his attorney John Liguori contended that Norris was not driving the pickup. Norris and Mitchell Venable, 20, and Ricky Russ, 21, were all ejected from the truck. Venable and Russ died at the scene, and Norris was hospitalized in critical condition. Norris' blood alcohol was 0.115, above the legal limit of 0.08.

I ask Daniel Norris his family, friends and supporters look at it through this “Drunk Driving Cause” perspective. It is primarily not his fault. So stand up and fight. He has nothing to loose but his DUI Shekels.

Did the Judge know it is primarily because of drinking those high alcohol content drinks called “Standard Alcohol Drinks”, which made Norris blood alcohol count to shoot up to 0.115 ! All of which have been licensed by the alcohol authorities but they go unpunished in this entire drunk driving accident matter?
