MADD Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign Barking At The Wrong Tree

I would not have made such serious title statement on “Mothers Against Drunk Driving” (MADD ) unless I had the genuine reason. It stands on my given faculty of intelligence, rational world view and all these years of my study on alcohol use Disorders, alcoholism problems, which now mainly centered on Drunk Driving (DD).

Before getting into its main point let me make some overall observation on this issue, which I consider essential.

People blame on the alcohol drink bu not the authorities who licece them

I totally agree drunk driving is the most notorious and despicable among the alcohol problems. It not alone endangers the drunk drivers but most importantly they endanger others life. Without warning they can strike a sudden blow and tragic end or total devastations on thousands of other peoples lives. Most terribly its killing of those hundreds of innocents! As it leave absolutely no second chance compared with other alcohol problems.

So all agree drunk driving is a most notorious and dispicable offence. The people who have been caught with it especially the “repeat” offenders subjected to harsh funishments. They have to take its entire blame on their head and humbly except that the excessive alcohol consumption that lead to their drunk driving is their own personal choice despite the authorities serious warning about the extreem dangers of the alcohol consumption. The authorities promulgations causioned them about the spirits, wines, beers, alcopops or whatever alcohol drinks no matter the alcohol content in them HIGH or LOW they all can lead into excessive alcohol consumption thus into the drunk driving if they do. It is soly the drinkers responsibility to drink safely and not to indulge into the excessive drinking. Drunk driving is totally the drunk drivers fault there is absolutely no doubt about it, the authorities claim drunk drivers do it with the full knowlegde so they must bear all its consequences including the severe punishments.

However there is a saying; “One can fool all people some times, some people all the times but one can not fool all the people all the times”.

Now let me come to my main point. MADD remain at the forefront in their battle against the drunk driving. However they seems to totally ignorant about a most critical fact or the hidden factor that may be indirectly causing all these drunk driving. This hidden factor that decides the fate of hundreds of those alcohol vulnerable people TO BE OR NOT TO BE a drunk driver! However they all seem to totally unaware of it.

One can see the basic evidence of this claim in the epidemiological reseach survey statistics of the drunk driving. All of which points to the fact that all those drunk driving offenses and most importantly its accidents happens as a result of people who were consuming the HIGH ALCOHOL CONTENT beverages (that includes the standard “beer” having around 5% alcohol) all of which licensed by the authorities in the named of “Standard alcohol Drinks” (SADs*). On the other hand there are no fundamental research evidences or statistics that fundamentally suggests that the consumption of LOW Alcohol Drinks (LADs) having alcohol around 2% or less results or causes in any of these drunk driving offences specially its accidents!

Therefore it is the alcohol authorities by their irresponsible attitude or “misconduct” of licensing these high alcohol content beverages in the name of SADs, all of which are extremely dangerous for human consumption that could often lead the alcohol vulnerable, gullible people into excessive alcohol consumption and land them into various alcohol problems most importantly the drunk driving. Therefore the authorities are primarily responsible for causing these drunk driving and most importantly its tragic accidents.

However the MADD and its like organizations unable or fail (or do not dare) to identity those real culprits who have been causing all these excessive alcohol consumption because they remain hidden so cleverly and perhaps because they may be so formidable (alcohol industry) to handle. So MADD entirely campaign against the individual person whom all can obviously see and directly identify as the drunk drivers! They come heavily on them while giving clean-chit for the culprit who have been causing or at least basically contributing to all these drunk driving incidents. Therefore the MADD Drunk Driving Prevention Exercise is like barking at the wrong tree while having the sense of sight but not the smell!

To understand more on this matter I also recomond to read the “Standard Alcohol Drinks”(SADs) and the “Drunk Driving” blog serries all have been published in this blog since this month.

Finally I would like to point out the MADD’s “Official Position Statement” published in their website Claims; “MADD is not a crusade against alcohol consumption - MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.” On the surface it seems there is nothing wrong in this statement! But if you probe little deeper it can also mean” MADD is not a crusade against the alcohol industry, or the consumption of those high alcohol drinks that potentially cause drunkenness and may lead into drunk driving!
