Drunk Drivers Families: The Mute Victims

When we come across the news reports about innocent victims of drunk driving, the terrible anguish, suffering, life devastations of those families, it only talks about those families who are NOT of the drunk drivers; of those drunk driving also results in their parents, kin, spouses, and most importantly their children undergoing more the kind of sufferings anguish and the life devastations. However they are being totally ignored and denied of the right to be accepted as its victims thereby deprived of any of its help and support.

It is mainly due to they being the family of the drunk drivers, who have been accused as the serious felons, major criminal, monster killers or murders! Their close family members as their part subjected to the punishment burden and the criminal guilty stigma that devastates their life as well and can break the families apart. However the drunk drivers families not been considered as the “innocent” victims! Therefore no sympathies, empathies or pity no question of justice for these mute victims!

However this whole drunk driving culprits and victims issue can radically turn upside down when one questions about its basic notion of blaming it entirely on the drunk drivers! Whether it is right for the authorities to make a “drink” gullible person prone to the problems of “Alcohol Use Disorders” fully responsible and punishable for getting into the impaired judgment (drunk) by the usage of a Gov. authorized and licensed recreational drug (alcohol) in a drink in such a high concentration, which makes it extremely dangerous for public consumption! The fact of this matter is, most of the times its drinkers voluptuous drinking appetite that the alcohol bosses fully exploit with those high alcohol content drinks in the name of “Standard Alcohol Drinks” inadvertently leads them into excessive alcohol consumption (drunkenness) so knock them into various alcohol(ism) problems. Drunk driving is one of them!

Let me go little deeper into this issue of excessive alcohol consumption namely drunkenness. Most importantly it impairs peoples ability of judgment that many times can make them unwittingly SUICUDAL as a result many among them some times or the other go drunk driving and inflict sever damage fatal injuries and deaths not only on themselves but many times on others! Every one knows that the drunk driver never wants or intends to get into an accident let alone a fatal one but that shouldn’t exonerate them from its responsibility, blame and the punishment! Same should apply to the alcohol drink bosses although they never want or intend to cause those extremely dangerous alcohol(ism) problems by their licensing and marketing those alcohol drinks but that should not exonerate them either from their “part” of responsibility in causing it!


However the DUI authorities instead of making those Alcohol Drink Governing Bosses basically (or at least partly) responsible for licensing and marketing such extremely dangerous drunk driving causing alcohol drinks, rather totally exonerated them from any of its blame let alone punishment! They justify the licensing and marketing of it by claiming; ‘majority who consume those alcohol drinks do not fall into any of those alcohol(ism) problems. It is only the minority fall into its disease, disorder, or the problems. Therefore they should be made entirely responsible and severely punished to prevent them from falling or doing it any more also to set an example to deter others from doing it.

Now let me come back to the Drunk drivers family situation. When a person falls in any alcohol(ism) or its “Use Disorders” problems especially the drunk driving offense it is their close family members first to suffer from its burden! All DUI punishment the huge fines, fees, loss of job and its opportunities and much more (incarcerations, imprisonments) mostly ends up in inflicting heavy financial burden on the drunk drivers that most of the time mainly hits upon the drunk drivers close family members. Its criminal guilty stigma can completely devastate all their life especially if they have children. They can no more afford a decent living, standards of housing, health care, education all will fall down the family can break apart and ruin all their life. In fact the drunk drivers family members have much to loose from all the sides to this drunk driving problem so very keen to prevent it. However the fact of the matter is that they don’t have any real control or power to prevent their close family member from the drunk driving.

On the other hand it is the Alcohol Drink Governing Bosses who really gain or “profits” from those peoples habit or appetite for the alcohol drinking that makes them drunk! It is they who beguile specially the alcohol gullible people into drinking such extremely dangerous high alcohol drinks first to make their huge profit, then to collect huge tax revenues and the other alcohol(ism) associated (research etc.) fringe benefits! They have full control over those alcohol drinks and full power in deciding what kind of drinks to supply to the public!

Lowering the alcohol content in the drinks definitely will make the alcohol drinks significantly safe for the public consumption but this alcohol restriction measure will drastically reduce their profit margin. On the other hand keeping the alcohol content in the drink as high as it is, would continue to keep the alcohol drinks extremely dangerous for the public consumption but it will give them their super high alcohol profit in return. The alcohol bosses choose the latter and declare that it is entirely the responsibility of the alcohol drinkers themselves to make the alcohol drinks or the drinking safe (especially when it involves others) or fully face its consequences if it becomes dangerous!

Now the great irony of this entire drunk driving issue is, all those people, individuals, groups organizations, agencies Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)in its leading (so I collectively call them as “MADD advocacies”) all those who are at the forefront in the battle against the drunk driving and its prevention, instead of fighting against the alcohol bosses, for their “misconduct” in this matter completely ignore it and remain totally silent about these real culprits behind it! Instead they blame it entirely on the drunk drivers demanding serve punishment to them.

MADD---‘Mothers Against Drunk Driving’ as they call themselves, in fact mostly work as ‘Mothers Against Drunk DRIVERS’! They don’t seem to understand the fundamental difference between the two. On the other hand the Mothers of Drunk Drivers or their close family members who are also very much against the drunk driving, find no place in MADD to equally fights for their cause! Their main concern, royalty remains naturally with their sons and daughters or the close family members who have been accused by the MADD lobbies as major criminal, monster killers or murders and demanded severest punishment possible! This puts the drunk drivers close family members in a very difficult and antagonizing situation. They fully agree that drunk driving totally wrong but at he same time they reckon their close family members not entirely responsible for their drunk driving it is caused by their alcohol(ism) problem. First of all it is they who suffer as a result and this as much devastated their own life.

If one takes into account of the total number of the drunk driving victims, they vastly outnumber (probably hundred or more times) the numbers of those whom the MADD advocacies considers as the innocent victims. But in reality all people who rightly or wrongly charged for the drunk driving offence suffer greatly as a result including their families. In which only a fraction of drunk driving offences results in its accidents. Even in those accidents many times the fatal injuries and deaths happens to the drunk drivers or their close family members traveling together! Even in those other accidents where the innocent outsiders falls prey, the drunk driver never would be spared from its sufferings of its sever punishment sentencing! Therefore overall it is the drunk drivers side that suffer most in a drunk driving offence!

However these drunk drivers side become unable express it openly in public, mainly because of the vehemently anti-drunk driver indoctrinations of the MADD advocacies. They brain wash the public with their dogmatic propaganda, which keeps the majority of the victims out of it because it does not suits or fits into the MADDs interest! They pressurize the drunk drivers into forcibly confessing that they are entirely responsible and they have no right to put its blame on anyone else! Their family member subjected or cowed into following the line! Otherwise they will be accused (perhaps indirectly) as the accomplice or guilty in that drunk driving criminal offence. Therefore the only way for the majority of the drunk driving victims in the present situation to remain silent or mute and to bear whatever punishment burden stigma of drunk driving that comes in their way without any protest of injustice.

The MADD advocacies campaign of the picturing the suffering, devastation of the drunk driving victims family is mainly to use those families to punish the other side of the drunk driving victims family who have been already suffering as the result of their family members this alcohol(ism) or its “Use Disorders” problems so making them twice its victims! Most importantly in this regard the MADD advocacies remain totally silent about those Alcohol Drink Governing Bosses who license and market those extremely dangerous high-alcohol drinks for the public consumption in the name of “Standard Alcohol Drinks”, all of which as the alcohol(ism) epidemiological surveys pointing out, causes almost all those drunk driving specially those fatal accidents! In this way the MADD completely shield the alcohol bosses who are the real culprits behind all these peoples alcohol(ism) problems, drunk driving EPITOMIZES it.
